As Catholics, we are very familiar with the celebration of the Mass. We know when to sit, stand and kneel. Many of us know all the responses by heart and can probably even recite them in our sleep. But do we really understand the significance of this liturgy? Imagine someone comes up to us and asks:
- What is the meaning of these responses?
- Why does the priest do certain things in the Mass?
- Where do these rituals come from?
- Are they Scripture-based?
Would we be able to explain them or are we just robotically reciting these prayers on Sundays and are thus unable to give ourselves fully to God?
The key to unlocking the meaning of the rituals and prayers of the Mass is the Bible. Dr. Edward Sri is taking us on a biblical tour through the Mass, from the opening Sign of the Cross to the closing “Thanks be to God.”
This study will be on Thursdays, commencing on May 2 until May 30. If you are interested in this study and would like to have more information. Please email us at [email protected].
