Community

There is a place for you here.

You are Welcome Here

Welcome to our Community Ministries Page, the heart of service and compassion at St. Anthony’s. Rooted in the spirit of love and guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ, our community ministries embody the essence of Catholic social teachings. Here, we come together as one family, dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. From feeding the hungry to providing shelter for the homeless, nurturing the minds of children to comforting the lonely, our ministries serve as a beacon of hope and support for everyone in our community. Join us in our mission to spread kindness, alleviate suffering, and promote justice. Together, we can truly make a difference and reflect God’s love in the world.

Our Community Ministries
Consecration Through Mary

Since 2017, St. Anthony of Padua has offered a 33-day preparation for Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary based on the 18th century consecration by St Louis de Montfort, who called it "the most perfect of all devotions" because "it conforms, unites and consecrates us most perfectly to Jesus Christ". The heart of this consecration is known as "Totus Tuus" or Totally Yours: the desire to completely belong to Jesus by entrusting ourselves completely to Mary, who is “the safest, easiest, shortest and most perfect way" to Him. This consecration was considered by St John Paul II to be the decisive-turning point in his life, and he renewed it annually from the age of 18 to his death at age 85, becoming one of the greatest saints in Church history.

Give St. Anthony a Brick

Since 2008, St. Anthony’s Parish community has been working tirelessly towards the creation of a parish centre. The continued efforts and support of the parish have buoyed this project through the years, and truly represent the generosity that those of this community possess.

Pro-Life Ministry

What can we do to stop 42 million murders?

Let‘s start with our public witness during 40 Days for Life, which takes place every Lent.  Our parish begins its participation the day after Ash Wednesday, and for several days after.

St. Anthony Novena

The vision of the Novena Ministry is to increase worship to God by propagating devotion to St. Anthony of Padua throughout the Archdiocese. The mission of the Novena Ministry is to provide a venue for St. Anthony of Padua devotees from within and outside of the parish to express their homage to their favoured patron saint.

Intercessory Prayer

This new Intercessory Prayer Ministry seeks the help of faithful and committed PRAY-ers who will intercede for the mission and goals of St. Anthony’s Parish.  Our pastor, Fr. Justin sends weekly requests for the group to pray for special intentions.

Works of Mercy

The Works of Mercy Ministry serves parishioners and people in our community who are sick or are homebound.  If you or someone you know would like to receive the Eucharist, prayers or would like a visit from our ministry members, can contact Annie Ma at the Parish Office.

Life Groups

St. Anthony of Padua Parish (Vancouver) is excited to be able to offer Life Groups that allow members to experience the fullness of life in Christ through building a community of disciples.

Why?

Across the world, leaders struggle with ways to bring a greater sense of community to their parishes. Groups are an amazing way to help both people and parishes grow

Youth Ministry

Building a community of faith is crucial for our youth as they continue in their journey through life, discerning their future vocations, living out a Christian life in their schools and with their friends and family, and grasping a firm identity as a child of God.

Catholic Women's League

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada (CWL) is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through services to the people of God. CWL members contribute to the life and vitality of the church, family and community, both at home and abroad. They also support the efforts of League members across Canada who diligently work to promote the teachings of the Catholic church. Our motto “For God and Canada” guides us in our cause. Members often support the work of the parish and her ministries through organized bake sales and other fundraising initiatives.

Young Professionals' Group

The Young Professionals' Group welcomes all young adults within the age of 25 to 40 years old to our events.  Our hope is to form a Christ-centered community that will encourage each member in their spiritual journey through pastoral, fellowship and (potentially) outreach events. We desire to provide a safe space for our fellow young professionals to have fun and have deep lasting relationships with each other as we strive together for holiness.
