Weekend Mass Teams

The tech team volunteers operate the audio-visual equipment during each of the weekend Masses to support and deepen the congregation’s participation in Mass, with the following roles:

  • Slide Operator: Advances the PowerPoint slides which help the congregation participate and respond in prayer.  Slide operators also have a unique role in assisting with the delivery of Father’s homily by advancing the corresponding visual slides at the correct moments.

  • Soundboard Operator: mixes the various microphones in use, in coordination with the choirs, to ensure the audibility of the Word of God, the prayers and music of the liturgy.

  • Live Stream Operator: For the Saturday 5pm and Sunday 10am Masses, sets up the cameras and operates the video switching software to capture the Mass for the online YouTube congregation.  The live stream allows Mass to be seen by those who are sick and homebound, and also is an online outreach for our parish.

Media Development Group

During the week, the Media Development Group prepares all the slide decks, graphics, and videos for the upcoming weekend Masses.  Familiarity with PowerPoint, graphic design and/or video editing is beneficial for volunteering as part of this group.  Commitment and tasks vary; contact us at [email protected] if you would like more details.

Dwelling Place Tech Team

We operate the slides, audio and live stream for Dwelling Place, a monthly Eucharistic adoration evening on the first Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  If you are a high school student or young adult interested in helping, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Special Parish and Ministry Events

The tech team also supports audio-visual and other technical needs for special parish celebrations and events, and other ministries’ events when needed.

Help wanted!

No specific prior experience is required - training on our equipment will be provided.  Familiarity with the Order of Mass, computers, and electronics will be helpful in our fast-paced and precision-oriented tasks.  Team members generally start and train up in one of these roles (based on interest and team needs), and later cross-train into the other roles.

Commitment is generally one Mass (that you typically attend) each weekend, arriving about 20-30 minutes before Mass to set up, and staying behind a few minutes to reset.

Email [email protected] if you would like more information about the team and to shadow the team at one of the weekend Masses.
