Overview

The goal of PREP is to assist parents in the religious education of children attending public schools in Kindergarten to Grade 7  and to prepare them to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist in Grade 2 and Confirmation in Grade 7.

PREP used to be known as CCD (Catechism Confraternity of Christian Doctrine)  or simply as "Catechism," and provides religious education to Catholic children attending non-Catholic schools.

PREP classes are held during the school year.

Important Information:

  • There is an important change in our approach to sacramental preparation (First Holy Communion and Confirmation). Both our parish school and PREP are transitioning to an evangelistic model. Please refer to the details outlined on the registration form.
  • Our primary goal for Confirmation is not merely that a child meets a certain age or grade level, but that they have made a personal decision to follow Jesus—that they are living as His disciples.
  • For First Holy Communion, our goal is that the child understands and reverences the Eucharist as more than bread—that they can distinguish the sacred from the ordinary.
  • Therefore, the timing to receive these sacraments is no longer the end of the school year but instead is determined by the spiritual readiness of the students.
